spot reductionFat loss is the ultimate goal of all weight watchers and fitness enthusiasts. Some if not most of them turn to spot reduction to eliminate fat in specific areas. Some might even have bought exercise contraptions which are promoted by infomercials hoping that by using it they can burn fats on a specific part of the body. But contrary to what infomercials wants to imply, spot reduction is just not possible, it's not a magic bullet to lose your stomach fat or any area of the body for that matter. We can’t simply decide where on our body we want lose fat from.

The reason for this is simple, muscles and fat are two separate layers, a muscle does not own the fat that surrounds it. Abdominal exercises, for example, will definitely build and strengthen your abdominal muscles, but this alone will not get rid of the layer of fat that is covering the muscles. In fact it may even make your stomach look bigger! Remember that muscles and fat are two separate layers, muscle being underneath the layer of fat. if you will focus your exercise on your abdomen you will definitely build muscle, but in turn this muscle will push out the fats that covers it making your stomach look fatter than it used to.

This is also true to any part of your body, in simple terms, abdominal exercises will not get rid of your stomach fat. Leg exercises will not get rid of your leg fats. Back exercises will not get rid of the fat on your back. Bicep exercises will not get rid of the fat on your arms and the list goes on. In order to lose fat anywhere on your body you need to burn calories by following a fitness program that involves cardiovascular training, weight training and proper diet. In doing so, you will decrease fat stores throughout your entire body, including the problem areas.
